DO YOU NEED SHELTER?

ROOTS provides safe, emergency overnight shelter for young adults ages 18 to 25, up until their 26th birthday.

If you need shelter, you can call (206) 632 1635 or come to our door between 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM to ask to be placed on the list for that night.

If more than 45 people arrive, a random drawing takes place at 8:30 PM to determine who can stay that evening. The doors open for sign in at 9:00 PM.

If we reach maximum capacity, our staff ensures that everyone who cannot stay is provided with a tent or sleeping bag and referred to other shelters for additional support. We do everything we can to make sure each person has what they need to stay as safe and cared for as possible.

Pets Allowed

ROOTS welcomes guests who have pets. To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone, pet owners are asked to complete a Pet Agreement before staying at the shelter. The agreement explains how pets should be cared for and managed within the space so that all guests and animals can coexist peacefully.
We understand how important pets are to many of our guests, and we do our best to keep people and their companions together. If the expectations outlined in the agreement are not met after repeated reminders, the pet may no longer be allowed to stay at the shelter.

scribble_5a_blue

Friday Feast is an all-ages meal provided by ROOTS every Friday.
We are open to anyone in the community who would like to attend.

CURRENTLY, FRIDAY FEAST MEALS ARE TO-GO STYLE ONLY.

Dinner is served from 5:30 to 7:00PM every Friday in the garage
of Chapel on the Ave, located in the alleyway behind the church.

Standing on the corner of 42nd and University Way, head east toward UW campus. On the righthand side of the street, across from MOD Pizza, you will see the entrance to the alleyway. Enter the alley and on the righthand side you will see the Chapel on the Ave garage near a large gate.
